Area residents have enjoyed junior ice hockey in Bismarck since 1997. The Bismarck Bobcats are part of the North American Hockey League’s Central Division Tier II and play in the V.F.W. Sports Center.

The Larks are part of the Northwoods League, the largest organized baseball league in the world, with 22 teams across seven states and one province. It plays games at Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field in the newly renovated Bismarck Municipal Ballpark.

Dirt track racing is a local favorite once opening day comes around each April at the Dacotah Speedway. The high banked, 3/8 mile dirt/clay oval features modifieds, street stocks and more on most Friday nights during the season.

Situated in downtown Bismarck is the Bismarck Event Center, the premier North Dakota event space hosting numerous indoor events year-round. Organizations utilize multiple buildings, such as conventions and exhibitions in the Exhibit Hall or concerts and shows in the Belle Mehus Auditorium. A 46,000 square-foot, 10,000-seat arena is popular with sporting events like the state basketball tournament.

The MDU Resources Community Bowl is a 6,000-seat athletic complex in Bismarck, managed by Bismarck State College. The artificial turf surface serves as the home field for the University of Mary athletic teams, while area primary and secondary schools utilize it and the adjoining grass fields and other amenities for much of their athletic events. It is also a popular venue for outdoor concerts and other community activities.

Cinema lovers can choose from 22 movie screens at Grand 22 Theatres in Bismarck. Viewers of all ages enjoy standard format, 3-D and D-Box technologies with typical tasty concessions.

Bismarck Art & Galleries Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit gallery. The gallery features monthly exhibits of visual art, including paintings, photography and sculptures by local, regional and national artists. Adult art classes are scheduled throughout the year.
